Program Review

Is your program achieving the goals you set for it? Is one of your goals to help your candidates achieve self-sufficiency? If your current methodology does not help you achieve the results you want, or if you just want to increase your success, perhaps we can help. WorkNet will pull from more than a 10 years of experience creating and consulting with programs striving to help people achieve self-sufficiency in various communities and job markets across the U.S. and Australia. We will help you assess your current goals, evaluate how your current methodology is hindering or helping you achieve those goals, and determine how you can most effectively meet your goals. As appropriate, we'll meet with your leadership, staff, community partners, funders, clients, employers, and others. Upon conclusion of the review, we'll present our findings and discuss practical suggestions on how to structure your program and methodology so you and your candidates are successful. Call for details, prices, and availability.

Program Design
Are you planning to start a Career Development/Job Placement Program, or incorporate employment services into your already existing social service or education program? Don't try to re-invent the wheel! We have a good one (that took us years to develop) and it can be tailored for your success. Our expertise will save you money and frustration, as well as help you see success in a fraction of the time! In this one to three-day visit we will to help you define your goals and develop a methodology so you reach those goals. As appropriate, we will meet with your leadership, funders, staff, clients, referring agencies, local employers, and others. Upon conclusion of our visit we will present our recommended program design and discuss changes you wish to make in order for our recommendations to fit smoothly with your other services. You will receive a written program description within three weeks of the visit, which you can use in grant requests and other fundraising efforts. You will also receive a Start-up Handbook which will include our suggestions on how to design or use your space, how to recruit and train your staff, and a checklist for getting started. Call for details, prices, and availability.

Employer Cultivation Training
One of the most impressive hallmarks of a successful job placement or Career Development agency is the number of local employers who repeatedly hire from them. Cultivating the right kind of relationships means that employers call you with job openings, trust your judgement about candidate referrals, and recommend you to their colleagues—benefitting you, your candidates, and the business community! In this intensive four-day training, WorkNet will help you develop your "Employer Marketing Strategy." You will learn and be required to implement the following skills:
  1. researching industries, companies, and positions;
  2. locating and choosing employers;
  3. developing your scripts for calling and visiting employers;
  4. preparing your "good answers" for difficult questions about your candidate base, funding, and agency;
  5. contacting employers to arrange visits;
  6. contacting employers to secure "specialized hires;"
  7. visiting employers to initiate a working relationship;
  8. matching candidates to employers, and
  9. following-up to further "cultivate" the relationship.

As you learn and are required to implement these new skills, we will help you overcome any hesitations you may have about approaching employers as a peer, so your "employer marketing strategy" results in a repeat customer base from among your local employers.

Resource Development Training
Often our candidates and programs fail because of issues not directly related to employment — housing, transportation, addiction, child care, appearance, etc. Do you realize that whatever you need, someone in the community has? The trick is to figure out who they are and how to get them to partner with you. Over the past 15 years, WorkNet has become extremely creative and successful in accessing the resources needed to help even the toughest-to-place candidates get jobs, stay employed, and get promoted. This intensive three-day training will help you identify the resources you need, and where in your community you can access them. You will develop a plan for approaching potential partners, including scripts that help them see "what's in it for them?" to work with you. The training will include actual phone calls and visits with potential partners. To ensure that you are building your skills in this area, you will not only watch us, but also be required to make phone calls, conduct visits, and follow-up with new partners. The practical tools you gain will help save you time, money, and energy, and will increase your placement and retention rates.

Having worked with hundreds of programs across the U.S. and Australia, we bring a multitude of ideas and perspectives that benefit your organization. Contact us regarding your needs.
